Our consultants bring significant industry, Big Five, and supply chain planning software experience. Opportunity assessments are one of the services we offer to fit each client’s unique needs. Our assessments of your company are designed to create actionable plans with a defined Return on Investment. Assessments can range from a point evaluation of how specific planning processes or metrics can be improved, to a more holistic end-to-end evaluation of people, process, and technology. We identify and recommend supply chain performance improvement opportunities derived from detailed financial and metric based modeling. Our assessments can address questions such as:
What is the right level of inventory for my company and how do I get it?
How do I achieve target case fill while hitting reduced budgets?
What organizational barriers are preventing me from achieving supply chain excellence?
Are stakeholders outside of my control impacting my ability to make supply chain targets?
Which supply chain processes offer improvement opportunities, and what are the benefits associated with each improvement?
What role could technology play? Are new capabilities required? How can existing tools be further leveraged?
MEBC approaches assessments from strategic and solution perspectives. We provide assessments on a variety of topics: benchmark/quality assurance, supply chain optimization, data integration, collaboration services, and pricing optimization services. No assessment toolkit would be complete without a financial analysis tool used to integrate process improvement with opportunity assessment. A sample of our tool is depicted below:

For a Central European region of a global snack food manufacturing and distribution company, we performed a post-acquisition/merger supply chain assessment that identified significant savings and supply chain performance opportunities for our client. The assessment defined a strategy to create a single demand-driven supply network. The strategy resolved issues caused by a decentralized safety stock/inventory planning process with organizational conflicts inhibiting effective sales and operations planning. The projected benefits for this project are expected to produce an internal rate of return greater than 65% with a 2.5 year payback.
For a $2 Billion Direct Sales and CPG company, assessments were conducted across multiple divisions. The assessments focused on processes, metrics, and current understanding of the legacy and packaged tools used to support the supply chain. Immediate actions were identified that could be enabled simply and quickly to create significant differences in the performance of the supply chain.
MEBC performed an opportunity assessment identifying process improvement opportunities for the supply chain operations of a large electric utility. Improvement opportunities totaling over $15M in savings were identified in purchasing, materials planning, and logistics.
