Client Overview
Our client, a specialized consulting organization, primarily focuses on providing premium supply chain management (SCM) and customer relationship management (CRM) solutions to both commercial and government clients. In addition to our client providing a full range of services, they specialize in the implementation of application such as Manugistics, SAP (APO, BW, PLM), i2, Siebel, and SAP CRM. This specialized consulting firm is comprised of individuals with significant industry, Big Five and software consulting experience. In their combined experience, our client has implemented or upgraded the Manugistics application over 100 times.
Project Description Summary
The goal of this project was to configure and implement Microsoft's Windows SharePoint Services to modernize team collaboration and provide our client with a competitive advantage in their marketplace. The new portal application, developed by Microsoft Corporation, will provide our client with a centralized platform for accessing information across a distributed workplace. The application gives our client a single Web-based team environment and built-in search capabilities. Microsoft SharePoint compliments our client's recent transition to the ISO 9001 standard, in which the technology itself makes creation and review of documents more effective with built-in document versioning plus check-in and check-out capabilities.
Role and Approach
MEB Consulting was responsible for the configuration and implementation of the following components:
Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0 for Windows Server 2003
Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services (WSS) version 2.0
Several SharePoint Add-Ons (e.g., IT Help Desk, Executive Dashboard, Recruiting System)
In addition, MEBC handled all project management activities and ensured a self-sufficient organization through group training on the SharePoint application.
Results / Accomplishments
MEB Consulting, in conjunction with an excellent core team of client resources, achieved the following:
Installed and configured WSS 2.0 on the client's server
Configured security for both Windows 2003 Server and MS SharePoint
Installed over 10 "add-ons" for enhanced functionality
Worked with client to set-up email alerts for important updates
Provided expertise with regard to the applications inherent ability to align with ISO 9001 document storage standards
Provided courseware material to the client for new employees
Trained each individual within the organization on how to access and utilize the application
MEBC is currently pursuing the Microsoft Small Business Specialist Designation -- providing us with the necessary credentials to provide you with SharePoint expertise.
